There was a time, not so long ago, when stories from out of the Mideast rarely made news in the West. Those days changed, likely forever, with the 9/11 attacks. It is likely that the world did not change on that date, but the average American's view of it certainly seemed to do so. Today we find our news full of stories from that area--stories of dead and destruction, of escape, and of terrorism. Mama Maggie, by Marty Makary, also comes with some of the same news, but more importantly, it provides a story of a woman sacrificing for others, even in the face of all of those tragedies.
